Join the Orchestra
Mosman Orchestra is a friendly community orchestra and we are always keen to welcome new players.
People join the orchestra for many reasons. Some of our members are music teachers, some are music students who take the opportunity to learn the standard orchestral repertoire in a friendly, non threatening environment. Many are simply amateur players who love playing orchestral music.
There are no auditions, but to be comfortable with the repertoire you should be at a level equivalent to about 5th grade AMEB standard or higher for Strings, 6th – 7th for Brass and Winds. Members pay an annual subscription to help with the running costs of the orchestra.
Rehearsals are on Wednesday nights from 7:30pm till 10:00pm at Mosman Art Gallery, cnr Short St & Myahgah Rd, Mosman. (And there are Tim Tams during the break!)
More strings are always welcome, and there are sometimes vacancies for brass and wind players. We’re currently very keen to find a leader for the 2nd violins.
If you are interested in joining us, or in going onto a ‘subs’ list to fill casual vacancies, please contact our membership secretary by clicking here.
Sponsorship Opportunities
